Moonlight Peaks DEMO is OUT

Updated: Mar 10

It is my eternal pleasure to tell you that the DEMO for Moonlight Peaks is out. From what I've seen so far, this is going to be a banger of a 3D farm sim. If you're a fan of games like Wylde Flowers or Coral Island, then trust me—you’re going to want to sink your teeth into this one!

Story

The game begins when you inherit a farm from your old man, Count Dracula, who's probably off doing war crimes somewhere. Your goal? To prove to your father that a life of compassion is just as powerful as one of bloodshed. And what better way to do that than through the magic of farming?

In the charming town of Moonlight Peaks, you’ll befriend (and potentially romance) a cast of fantasy creatures, from werewolves and witches to mermaids and more.

Twelve illustrated characters in circular frames on a dark background. Each displays unique hairstyles, attire, and expressions, some magical.
Look at these beautiful faces. Romance is going to be 5 stars.

But farming and flirting aren’t your only missions—there are mysteries lurking in Midnight Peaks, waiting to be unraveled. This is your chance to step out of your dad's shadow and forge your own legacy.

Character Creation

Quick note on the art style because I don’t want to mislead anyone. Moonlight Peaks isn’t your typical dark-and-brooding vampire game. It’s bright, colorful, and has a whimsical supernatural vibe. The world is fully 3D, with smooth character models and a vibrant atmosphere.

Cartoon character with eyes closed stands on pink ground, surrounded by plants. A black cat sits nearby on a patterned path.
There's my cute little character, standing next to her cat fiend, taking a breather.

As for character customization, the demo doesn’t include it yet. But based on the Steam page, we can expect a lot of options in the full release. I’ll be keeping an eye on this and will update you as soon as we know more.

Gameplay

The gameplay feels really good. You have two action menus to draw from, one being the tools of your every-day trade, and the other is the shapes you can transform into. One of these is a bat! Movement feels amazing because you can literally fly around like a boss in bat form. I’m assuming the other shapeshift forms will help with travel and treasure hunting, which could add a fun layer of exploration.

And let’s talk magic—because what’s a vampire farm sim without a little spellcasting?

No water? No problem. ✨

Unlike most farm-sims, where magic is just a cute gimmick, you actually have to do mini-game gestures to cast spells here. The demo doesn’t give us a full spellbook yet, but with eight magic slots, it looks like spells will be tied to farming rather than combat. (Which makes sense—we are trying to convince Dracula that bloodthirst isn’t the only way forward.)

As for the farming itself, I dig it. It took me a moment to figure out how we were supposed to plot the land, and it turns out you use the shovel. There is no hoe. The watering can doesn't feel slow and awful like some games, and gathering materials doesn't feel like so much of a grind. I will say that Fishing doesn't present much of a challenge, currently, but maybe that will change before final release.

All-in-all, Moonlight Peaks is shaping up to be a fantastic addition to the farm-sim genre. The supernatural elements, smooth gameplay, and story potential definitely make it stand out. I can’t wait to see how the magic system and shape-shifting evolve in the full release, and I am so, so ready to get a look at the deeper story.
